Completing a Lesson Report

Learn how you can complete a Lesson Report.

Written by Raashi Thakran

After a Lesson has ended, you'll need to complete a Lesson Report for each Student. This replaces the Lesson Report stage in TutorCruncher - everything now happens in Bobbin.

How the process works

  1. The Lesson ends in LessonSpace

  2. Bobbin transcribes the session and generates AI insights (this takes up to 5 minutes)

  3. Once the insights are ready, you'll receive an email prompting you to complete the Lesson Report

  4. You complete and submit the report in Bobbin

  5. You're redirected back to TutorCruncher, where the Lesson is marked as complete and any billing or follow-up workflows continue as normal

Coming from TutorCruncher? When you click Mark Complete on an appointment in TutorCruncher, you'll be taken directly to the Lesson Report page in Bobbin. Once you finalize it, you'll be sent straight back.

If there's no usable recording

Sometimes a Lesson won't have a usable recording - for example if the session wasn't recorded or the audio didn't come through. You can still complete the Lesson Report and the Lesson is billed as normal. In this case, you add your own notes in place of the AI-generated insights, then submit the report in the usual way.

Completing the report

The Lesson Report page guides you through the AI-generated content for the session. For each section, you can:

  • Review the AI-generated content

  • Edit it by hovering over the section and clicking Edit

  • Add your own notes where prompted

If your organization requires Tutor notes, you'll be prompted to complete these before you can submit.

Depending on what your organization has switched on, the report may also include:

  • Next steps for each Student — what they should work on before their next Lesson. These are worth a read before you submit, because they're gathered onto the Student's Progress Report and fed into the plan for their following Lesson.

  • Objectives Covered — which of the Course objectives the session covered, grouped by module.

Anything typed into the Lesson chat is taken into account when the content is drafted, and a Lesson that stopped and restarted is written up in full rather than just the last stretch.

Note: If Bobbin can't produce usable content for a section, nothing is saved over what's already there and you'll be asked to try again — so an edit that doesn't work won't wipe what you'd written.

Adding Tutor notes

Tutor notes are your own written observations about each Student's progress in the session. They're separate from the AI-generated insights, but they do form part of the Lesson Report the Client receives, so write them with that reader in mind.

To add notes:

  1. On the Lesson page, navigate to the Summary tab

  2. Find the Tutor notes section for each Student

  3. Type your notes and save

Notes can be added or edited at any point before the Lesson is marked complete.

Note: Everything you write on a report goes to the Client, including your Tutor notes and any Next steps. If you need to pass on a room change or a handover for the next Tutor, send it to your Administrator rather than writing it on the report.

What happens after you submit the report

Once you finalize the report, an email is automatically sent to each Student's linked Client. The email contains a short summary of the Lesson and a link to view the full report, including the recording and transcript. Some organizations also attach the report as a PDF.

The Lesson Report also remains accessible inside TutorCruncher, with a link back to the full report in Bobbin. TutorCruncher is also told while a Lesson is still waiting for its report, so your agency can see what's outstanding from either side.

If your organization reviews reports before they're sent

Some organizations switch on report approval, which means an Administrator checks each Lesson Report before it reaches the Client. If this is turned on for your organization:

  • When you review & submit your report, it isn't emailed to the Client straight away - it's sent to an Administrator to review and approve first.

  • The Lesson won't be marked Complete until the report has been approved.

  • An Administrator may make small edits before approving, and the Client receives the approved version.

You don't need to do anything differently - just complete and submit your report as usual.

If marking complete doesn't seem to work

Marking a Lesson complete copes with a brief interruption to the connection between Bobbin and TutorCruncher. The Lesson still completes and reaches TutorCruncher once the connection recovers, so there's no need to submit your report again.

If you were added to a Lesson that already existed in Bobbin, you can mark it complete in the same way as anyone else on it.
