In Bobbin, Students are the people receiving Lessons. As a Tutor, you can view the Students on your Courses and Lessons to understand their history and progress.
Note: Tutors only see Students on the Courses and Lessons they are assigned to. Administrators can see all Students in the organization.
Viewing a Student's profile
A Student's profile shows:
Their basic details
All Lessons they are linked to (that you are also part of)
Their Progress Reports
Navigate to a Student by clicking their name from within a Lesson or Course page.
On the Summary tab of a Student's profile, you can view their Progress Reports — AI-generated summaries of how the Student has been progressing over recent Lessons, this week, and this month.
These reports are useful for identifying patterns in a Student's strengths and areas for improvement across multiple sessions. You can also generate a custom Progress Report for your Students - Students and Clients can't do this themselves, so if a parent asks for one covering a term, it's you or an Administrator who creates it.
Where a report includes Next steps, those are worth a look before your next session with that Student - they're fed into the Lesson plan for it.
Students without an email address
Some Students, particularly younger ones, are set up without an email address. They can still join Lessons and have Reports written about them exactly as normal - they just can't sign in themselves and won't receive emails from Bobbin.
As a Tutor, you don't manage Clients directly. When you complete a Lesson Report it goes to the relevant Client's email address - with two things that can change the timing:
If your organization reviews Reports before sending, it goes once an Administrator has approved it rather than straight away.
A Client can have Report emails turned off for a particular Student. The Report is still there for them to read when they sign in; it just isn't emailed to them.
So if a parent says a Report never arrived, it's usually one of those two rather than anything missing from your write-up.
