Learning profiles

Record how each student learns best so Bobbin can tailor their lesson plans.

Written by Raashi Thakran

A learning profile records how a Student learns best: their needs, what helps, what to avoid, their interests, strengths and goals. Bobbin uses it to shape that Student's Lesson Plans, so the plans fit the Student without Tutors having to repeat the same notes every time.

Learning profiles are an opt-in beta.

Turning learning profiles on

Go to Workspace > Settings > Beta and switch on Learning profiles.

Turning learning profiles off later keeps everything you've recorded. It just stops profiles being shown and used until you switch them back on.

Where to find a profile

Each Student's profile is on the Learning profile card on their Summary tab.

  • Administrators can add and remove items, write notes, and choose what's used by AI.

  • Tutors assigned to the Student can read the profile but can't change it.

  • Clients and Students can't see it.

What you can record

Add items under six headings: Needs, What helps, Avoid, Interests, Strengths and Goals. There's also a free-text notes section. Items can't be edited once added, so to correct the wording, remove the item and add it again.

Consent for needs

Adding the first item under Needs asks you to confirm you have consent to record it. If consent is withdrawn later, all of the Student's Needs are deleted and their notes are cleared. Items under the other headings stay.

Keeping things out of AI

You can stop the whole profile, or a single item, from being used by AI without deleting it. Your Tutors can still read it.

For a one-to-one Lesson, the Lesson Plan can draw on the whole profile. For a group Lesson, only Needs, What helps and Avoid are used, and they aren't linked to any one Student.

Note:

  • Plans and reports that were already written aren't rewritten when you withdraw consent or keep something out of AI. The change applies to anything written from then on.

  • Each agency keeps its own profile for a Student, and it's deleted when the Student leaves that agency.
