Bobbin is the Lesson delivery system your tutoring provider uses. As a Client, Bobbin is where you can follow your Student's tutoring — viewing their Lessons, reading their Lesson Reports, and tracking their progress over time.
Bobbin adds AI-powered tools to each Lesson. After a session, Bobbin automatically transcribes the Lesson, generates insights into what was covered, and helps the Tutor write the Lesson Report. The result is a clearer, more detailed picture of how your Student is getting on.
How Bobbin fits in
Many tutoring providers schedule Lessons in a separate system, TutorCruncher, and use Bobbin to deliver them — that's where the Reports and insights live. Others run everything in Bobbin. Either way, there's nothing for you to set up: if your provider uses Bobbin, your Lesson Reports and updates come through automatically.
If your provider uses TutorCruncher, emails about Lessons being booked, moved or coming up are sent from there rather than from Bobbin, so they may look a little different to your Lesson Report emails.
Accessing Bobbin
You access Bobbin on the web, by logging in through your browser. The Bobbin mobile app is for Tutors only, so as a Client you'll always use the web version.
Many Clients simply read the Lesson Report emails that arrive after each session. If you'd like to see more like past Lessons, insights, recordings, and progress over time, you can log in to Bobbin at any time.
What you can see as a Client
As a Client, Bobbin shows you everything relating to the Students linked to your account:
Students — the Students connected to you, and their details
Lessons — upcoming and past Lessons for your Students, including the option to join a Lesson
Calendar — a calendar view of your Students' Lessons
Lesson Reports — the report and insights produced after each completed Lesson
Progress Reports — a broader view of how your Student is developing over time, which you can also download as a PDF
There's also a search box covering your Students, their Lessons and their Courses.
What you see depends on your provider
Tutoring providers set Bobbin up differently, so a few things vary:
Recordings and transcripts may or may not be available to you - your provider chooses which roles can see them, and how long recordings are kept.
Reports may be checked first. Some providers have an Administrator review Lesson and Progress Reports before you see them, so there can be a short wait after a session.
Some report sections are optional, so not every report looks the same.
Which emails you get is set by your provider - ask them if you'd like more or fewer.
If something you expected isn't there, your provider is the right person to ask - they control all of the above.
Keeping your account secure
You can turn on two-factor authentication from your profile settings, so signing in asks for a code from an authenticator app as well as your password. It's worth considering, since your account holds reports about your child. If you lose access to the app, your provider can reset it for you.
