Introduction to Bobbin

Learn how Bobbin works, how to sign in, and what you can do as a Tutor.

Written by Raashi Thakran

Bobbin is where you'll prepare for and deliver your Lessons, complete Lesson Reports, and track Student progress - all in one place.

Bobbin enhances each Lesson with AI-powered tools. After every session, Bobbin automatically transcribes the Lesson, generates insights into what was covered, and helps you write your Lesson Report.

Everything is designed to reduce admin and give you more time to focus on teaching.

Signing in

When your agency adds you to Bobbin, you'll get a welcome email with a link to set your password. After that, you sign in with your email address and password.

If the welcome email doesn't arrive, ask an Administrator at your agency to resend it. If you forget your password, you can reset it from the sign-in page.

Your agency creates and schedules your Courses and Lessons in Bobbin, and you can add or edit Lessons on the Courses you teach too. See Courses & Course Outlines.

What Tutors can do in Bobbin

As a Tutor, you have access to the following in Bobbin:

  • Dashboard - see today's Lessons, who has joined the ones that are running, and anything requiring your attention at a glance

  • Lessons - view, prepare for, deliver, and complete all your Lessons

  • Courses - view the Courses you teach and manage Course Outlines

  • Students - view the Students on your Courses and Lessons

  • Calendar - your Lessons laid out by date, in your own timezone

  • Resources - your own library of files, plus anything your agency has shared, ready to open inside a Lesson

There's also a search box covering your Students, Lessons and Courses, which only returns things you're able to open.

Note: Tutors only see the Courses and Lessons they are assigned to. Administrators see everything across the organization.

The Bobbin mobile app

Tutors are the only users with a mobile app. You sign in to it with the same email address and password you use for Bobbin, and it keeps you signed in for 30 days. It's built around the day-to-day job of running Lessons and writing up notes, and if your agency has opted into the in-person beta it's also how you record a face-to-face Lesson to get a transcript and insights from it. See Recording in-person Lessons with the Bobbin app.

The app can send you a daily notification summarizing the Lessons you have that day, if your agency has enabled it.

Choosing your emails

You can turn off the Lesson ready for review and Transcript ready for review emails under Notifications on your profile.

Teaching for more than one agency

If you work with several organizations that use Bobbin, use the Organization menu at the top of the sidebar to switch between them. Your Lessons, Recordings and Calendar show the Lessons from all your agencies together, labeled by agency, and you can filter them by agency. A Student you teach at more than one agency appears once in your Students list. Your review emails can be switched on or off separately for each agency. See Working with more than one agency.

Connecting an AI assistant

If your agency has turned it on, you can connect Claude or a similar AI assistant to Bobbin and ask it about your Courses, Lessons and transcripts. It only ever sees what you can see. See Connecting Claude to Bobbin.

Keeping your account secure

Because you sign in with a password, it's worth turning on two-factor authentication for your account. You can do this from your profile, so signing in asks for a code from an authenticator app as well as your password. Save the recovery codes you're given, so you can still sign in if you lose your phone. If you lose both, an Administrator at your agency can reset two-factor authentication for you.

You can also change your sign-in email from your profile. Changing your password, or turning two-factor authentication on or off, signs you out of Bobbin on your other devices, including the mobile app. See Signing in securely.
